The Libra full moon occurs on Thursday April 9, 2009 at 10:56 AM at about 20 degrees of Libra (click here to view the chart). While Aries is the sign of "self," Libra is the sign of "the other," and signifies our ability to relate. Libra is the sign of consensus, cooperation, and balance. Venus is the ruler of Libra and imbues this sign with a desire for harmony, an eye for aesthetics, and the power to attract. Venus is currently retrograde until April 17th and is moving through Aries and back into Pisces. We're getting another opportunity to examine our relationships and values from a more spiritual and intuitive perspective (Pisces). During these next two weeks after the full moon we'll succeed when we operate in harmony with our values, cooperate with others, and use our intuition to guide ourselves. The full moon is also reaching out to Jupiter in Aquarius and this is sure to bring opportunity and an optimism from our diplomatic endeavors. What's in the news today? President Obama's influence and success overseas. That same energy is available to each of us for the next two weeks. How will you spend your goodwill? Who will you reach out to? Where can you compromise for greater success? Many of us want answers to our relationship questions - who is the best match for me, when will I find love, and will it last? Of course the answer isn't as simple as matching Sun signs but goes much deeper. While we are agents of free will we've also been influenced by our environment. For example, our parent's relationship was the first template we had for interaction and colors how we interact as adults. Astrology can give us clues as to the kinds of needs we're trying to meet and what "patterns" - both conscious and unconscious- we're operating under. In astrology there are two primary ways of looking at compatibility. The first involves looking at the chart of each person to see where planets in one chart align with planets in the other. This is called synastry. The second method is to take both charts and "average" them together creating a third chart, called a composite chart. This is the chart of the relationship, not a real person, and can give insight into the dynamics the relationship may experience. Life, both biological and social, is symbiotic- we need each other. The new moon in Aries two weeks ago encouraged us to step out and be more assertive, creative, and courageous. Now at the full moon we're at the point in the cycle where we realize that in order to achieve what we want we need the help of others. It's time to embrace the compliment to Aries energy- Libra.
